Monitoring and Evaluation

Monitoring and Evaluation
Monitoring is essential in parenting programmes for tracking and evaluating the design programme's effectiveness. It involves identifying valid and reliable measures to assess the programme's effectiveness and progress toward parenting goals. This step consists of building a monitoring framework with an evaluation plan (e.g., randomized control trials, developmental, mixed-method evaluations) to assess the direct and indirect parenting programme outcomes and establish improvements based on findings. Additionally, it includes identifying and addressing gaps and building on local monitoring capabilities through training.
Guiding questions and considerations
1.
Has a monitoring and evaluation plan/framework been developed for tracking progress?
2.
Are critical gaps from the situational analysis addressed in the indicators?
3.
What monitoring and evaluation measures will be identified to track programme relevance and effectiveness over time?
4.
How will programme effects be monitored and evaluated, and what mechanisms will be in place to adapt and improve the programme on an ongoing basis (e.g., through routine monitoring/feedback loops) and based on final evaluation findings?
5.
Are there training mechanisms in place to enhance monitoring at the local level?
