Providing parents with essential time, financial resources, emotional supports, and services to care for their children is also critical. Relevant laws and policies benefiting parents and children should address their needs throughout the life course (e.g., allowing for the payment of universal child benefits; supporting gender equality; targeted social protection interventions for families of children with disabilities; supporting affordable, accessible, quality childcare). Enabling environments can also be strengthened using strong data, research and evidence that can inform enhancements to existing programmes/services.
